M’ARI ZHURYAN
A body is just a body.
I want you to have mine.
Do it as prescribed, not as assigned.
We cannot forget,
but we are so good at reimagining.
We give new meanings—freely, enthusiastically—it’s ongoing,
storytelling embodied.
We are.
*
A body is just a body;
reassign meaning to mine.
Let’s make up new words for old wounds.
We are Transnative speakers,
translating our foreign bodies
into transcendent pleasure, reclaimed.
*
A body is just a body.
I want to feel your thighs clench
around my aching mind,
push the fear out of my body.
We are freedom personified.
Fill me with joy and secret meaning,
turning transgressive words
into translucent fingerprints
on my tongue, sparkling like stars—
Are only distant reflections.
*
A body is just a body.
We are.
